Big Al Hall and Marching Rams is the first release (2010) by the band of the same name. All the songs are traditional Appalachian songs driven by Hall’s clawhammer banjo and freight train vocals. The use of drums, guitar and bass, however, chart a new territory that’s more ‘primitive rock and roll’ than ‘folk music'. Produced by the band and recorded in one day by Alan Wheatherhead at Richmond, VA’s Sound of Music Recording Studios this album is fun, spontaneous and totally infectious. You’ll love it.
